What do I need to use SynChat?

A Synology NAS running the latest DSM version with the Synology Chat package installed, and an account on it. SynChat connects to the address of your NAS.

Does SynChat support two-factor authentication?

Yes. Sign in with your DSM account, then enter your one-time code. You can mark your Mac as a trusted device.

Where is my password stored?

SynChat stores its session token in the macOS Keychain. Messages are cached locally so the app opens instantly. Nothing is sent to bdzapps.

Is SynChat made by Synology?

No. SynChat is an independent client made by bdzapps. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by Synology Inc.

Requirements

macOS 26.5 (Tahoe) or later, and a Synology NAS on the latest DSM version with Synology Chat.
